When Public Sharing is enabled, users can choose to Share or Embed their Public Resources. The options will depend on the file type, ie whether the file is an image, video, document, etc. The Embed function allows you to embed an image or video file within an external website, newsletter, email campaign, etc.
This article contains a full overview of the options available when using the Embed option. Click on the items below to jump to specific sections.
Accessing Embed Options
To load the Embed page, go to the Resource you wish to Embed. Providing the Resource is within a Public Folder (if not, that can be enabled following the steps outlined here), go to the More actions icon and select Share / Embed Resource from the menu.
You can see an example of how to do this below. Once on the overlay, click the Embed tab that is to the right of the Share tab.
Share / Embed Resource Overlay
Once you've selected the Embed action, the Share / Embed Resource overlay will appear. The fields that will appear depend on the type of field, ie a video or image.
Embedding an Image
If your Resource is a supported image type, you will be presented with the below options to embed.
Embed Source
This field allows you to embed either the Original file or a Preset - ie applying transformations or specific parameters to the original. If Preset is selected an additional field will appear, allowing you to either Select an existing Preset or add a new one.
Embed Display Size
This is a custom field where you can add in the image display size when it is embedded into the external link or site. This could be useful if the destination has specific parameters. The options in this field allow you to select either the default (original) size, or enter custom dimensions.
Alternate Text
This field will automatically be populated with the original name of the file. The alternate text field will be the default if the image cannot load and is useful to users with assistive technologies.
Embed Code
This is the code that the user can copy to embed into another source. Click Copy Code to copy the settings and options entered to your clipboard, then paste it to embed.
You can see an example of all the settings below:
