Users with Publish permission on a Folder can download its entire content, including any sub-folders, in bulk as a Zip file.
Pending the Folder is not entirely empty, and the user has the required level of permission, the Download Folder action will be visible in the Folder actions dropdown menu.
Upon confirming the Download Folder request, a Zip file will be created and an email with a link will be sent to the user who made the request when it is ready for download. The time it takes to complete a request is dependent on other requests in progress and the size of the Folder content. For reference, a 50GB Folder may take up to 1 hour to process. Requests are processed one by one. The requests are processed one by one, and up to 20 can be pending at any given time.
The link will be available without authentication for a period of 30 days, before it automatically expires.
Important feature notes:
-
Only Sub-Folders that the user has Publish permission on will be included in the Zip file.
-
The download link can be accessed without authentication, and will expire automatically after 30 days. If you are concerned about these download links potentially being shared, do not enable this feature.
-
All Zip files generated count towards the platform storage allowance. The storage space used by the Zip file will automatically become available again when the link expires.
-
If the storage limit has already been reached when submitting a folder download request, a message indicating so will be presented to the user.
-
If the storage limit is being reached while the folder download zip file is being generated, the request will be automatically cancelled and an email advising so will be sent to the user (standard storage limit emails will also be sent to Administrator users as per normal.
-
Download links cannot be expired manually so make sure you have enough free storage on your platform to cover usage needs for a 30 days period.
-
- When a Zip file is being downloaded, the download size is counted towards your platform’s monthly public data transfer allowance. Users will not be able to request a new folder download, or to download an existing download link when that limit is reached. Dedicated messages indicating so will be presented to users.
- A maximum total size of 50GB can be requested for download. If the total size of the folder structure is above that size, an email will be sent to the user advising that the request could not be processed.
- A maximum of 20 Folder request downloads can be submitted to the queue at any given same time. Requests are processed one by one. If the total number of requests is reached when requesting to download a Folder, a message indicating so will be presented to the user.
Note that this feature is an optional add-on currently in BETA. If you would like to learn more and discuss options for enabling it on your platform, contact your Customer Success Manager or email us at helpdesk@intelligencebank.com.
