If certain Sections in your form only need to appear if they meet specific conditions, this can easily be enabled in your Database's Custom Form utilising the conditional display feature.
This Conditional display logic means that the section will only appear once a specific value has been entered or selected by the user in a previous field.
The field options that are available will include all fields in your Page (or Stage), unless those fields are within the same section, are from a duplicable section or contain the Title Field of the form.
Example Scenario
For instance, a condition could be based upon a Select> Checkbox field with a Yes or No answer. If 'Yes' is selected, another section of information needs to be filled in and will appear directly beneath. If 'No' is selected, that section will not appear as it does not meet the condition set and the user will continue to fill out the form as usual.
Setting up your Conditions
To enable conditional logic like the example above, you can use the following steps:
- Create a new section, adding a Section Title if required
- Go to the Conditions tab
- Enable the checkbox setting with the label: 'Only show this section if conditions are met'
- Click Add to select the field and related value/s that need to be selected by the user before this section can appear
- Click Save & Next to apply this change to your form
You can view an example of how to do this below.
You can Add multiple conditions to suit your needs by clicking the Add button under the first condition entered.
Conditional Section display on the Record
Using the example conditions set up in the Custom Form above, you can view an example below of what the user will experience when filling out their record. If they answer "No" in the last field, nothing happens. If they select "Yes" however, an additional section of content appears for them to fill out.
Please note that some of the terms used in this article, such as Database and Record, are customisable and therefore may appear differently in your platform.
