Overview
When you use AI-powered capabilities on the platform, such as Content Risk Reviews or Social Media Risk Reviews, the processing required to complete each review varies depending on what is being analyzed. IntelligenceBank Compute Units (IBCU) is the measure we use to track that variable processing consumption.
You do not need to manage IBCU directly. What matters on your side is your review allowance: the number of reviews included in your plan per year. IBCU operates in the background as a fair-use threshold. Under normal usage, you would not expect to reach it.
Your review allowance is the number that appears in your pricing plan, order form, or contract. IBCU is how we track our variable costs so we can offer you a single, stable metric: reviews per year, regardless of what each individual review actually requires to run.
Why different reviews consume different amounts of processing
Not all reviews are equal in terms of what happens behind the scenes. A few examples are below:
- A short text disclaimer check is relatively lightweight to process.
- A high-resolution image review requires more compute for visual analysis.
- A video review involves frame-by-frame analysis and, where applicable, audio transcription, and is significantly more intensive than text or image.
- A Social Media Risk Review may involve web crawling, content extraction, and ongoing monitoring in addition to the review itself.
The complexity of the Content Risk Review rules being applied also matters. A simple keyword check runs lighter than a nuanced multi-jurisdiction rule that requires deeper reasoning to evaluate correctly.
This is why there is no single average IBCU figure per review. It would be misleading in both directions, too high for your simpler reviews, too low for your more complex ones. What we can commit to is your review allowance, monitored proactively on our end.
How we monitor usage
IBCU usage is tracked automatically per account. Our Customer Success team receives internal alerts as usage approaches the fair-use threshold, so we can reach out proactively if your usage patterns suggest a conversation is warranted. This should be well before you are ever close to a limit.
You will not be cut off without warning, and you have the option to purchase additional IBCUs. Please discuss this with your Account Manager.
Fair use policy
IBCU is positioned in your contract as a fair-use threshold, not a hard usage cap. It is designed to accommodate normal variation in how customers use the platform across different content types and review volumes.
If your usage grows significantly, often a sign the platform is delivering value, we will reach out to discuss whether your current plan remains the right fit. We reserve the right to adjust fair-use thresholds with notice as our underlying cost base changes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to track or manage IBCU myself?
No. IBCU is an internal measure. You manage your review allowance; we manage everything behind it.
Why does IntelligenceBank use IBCU instead of just counting reviews?
Because a single review count does not reflect the actual variation in processing required across different content types and rule complexities. IBCU allows us to absorb that variability and offer you a simple, predictable metric, reviews per year, without passing that complexity on to you.
Will I be notified if my usage is unusually high?
Yes. Our team monitors usage proactively and will reach out if your account is approaching the fair-use threshold. You will not encounter a limit without prior contact from us.
What if my review allowance and IBCU threshold seem inconsistent?
Please contact your account manager. In most cases, this reflects an unusual mix of content types or rule complexity, and it is something we would want to understand and address together.
I've seen the term IBCU in my contract - what does it mean?
IBCU stands for IntelligenceBank Compute Units. It is the internal unit we use to measure the variable processing cost behind AI-powered reviews. For day-to-day purposes, your review allowance is the number to focus on. If you have specific questions about how IBCU applies to your contract, your account manager can walk you through it.
Still have questions?
Contact your account manager or reach out to our support team. For detailed questions about how IBCU applies to your specific plan or usage patterns, your account manager is the right first point of contact.
