Large photography files, such as camera RAW and TIFF originals, can now open at normal speed when you review them in Approvals instead of leaving you waiting on a spinner.

How it works
Camera originals are big. A RAW or TIFF file straight off a shoot can run from a few hundred megabytes to well over a gigabyte. Opening one of those for review used to mean waiting while the image was built on the spot, which could take more than a minute, and on the largest files it sometimes timed out before anything appeared.
With this setting turned on, IntelligenceBank creates a compressed copy of the image ahead of time. When you open the approval, that copy is what loads, so the image appears at normal speed.
The compressed copy keeps the same dimensions as the original, so what you see on screen is accurate for checking composition, content and layout, and for adding markup.
Viewing the full resolution image
When you need to inspect the image at full quality, for example to check fine detail before signing off a print original, use the Display High Resolution toggle in the header of the review window. This loads the uncompressed original file.

What you might see
Most of the time the image simply opens. Occasionally you may see one of the following instead.

| Optimizing Image | The compressed copy is still being created. This usually happens when the asset was only just uploaded, or when it is the first time anyone has opened an older asset for review. The image appears as soon as the copy is ready. |
| Image too large to optimise | A compressed copy could not be created for this file. You will see the original instead, which takes longer to load, and the Display High Resolution toggle will not appear. You can still review the asset and add markup as normal. |
Frequently asked questions
| How do we get this turned on for our site? | Contact IntelligenceBank Support and ask for large photo preview to be enabled. It is a specialised setting applied per site, so it will not be on unless you have asked for it. There is nothing for you to configure once it is on. |
| Am I reviewing a lower quality image? | You are reviewing a compressed copy at the same dimensions as the original, which is accurate for checking composition, content and markup. For pixel level inspection, switch on Display High Resolution to load the original. |
| Which file types and sizes does this cover? | Any image larger than 100 MB, with no upper limit. That includes TIFF and camera RAW formats such as CR2, NEF, ARW and DNG, as well as PSD, PNG and BMP. |
| Does this change the file we download or approve? | No. Your original file is untouched. The compressed copy is only used to display the image on screen while you review it. Downloads always give you the original. |
| Do markups still work? | Yes. Markup works exactly as it does on any other asset, and anything you mark up appears in the right place. |
| What about large files already in our account? | They do not have a compressed copy yet. One is created the first time someone opens the asset for review after the setting is switched on, so that first open is as slow as it is today. Every open after that is fast. |
| Does this use more of our storage? | Yes. Each compressed copy is stored alongside the original and is roughly 10% of its size, and it counts toward your storage allowance. If you work with a high volume of very large photography files, your Customer Success Manager can help you work out what that means for your account. |
