How to get started and turn the Closed Captions setting on in Admin?
Get started with a 20-minute free trial by simply enabling Closed Captions into your Admin settings.
1. Turn the Asset Intelligence setting on in Admin settings

How to use Closed Captions within the IntelligenceBank platform?
You can apply Closed Captions:
1. during uploading the new audio and video assets
2. on the info preview screen for the already uploaded audio and video assets.
Once you apply Closed Captions you can view and edit them in the Info Preview.
Apply Closed Captions for already uploaded audio or video assets
To apply Closed Captions for already uploaded audio or video assets, you can do so in two ways:
Open the info preview screen and navigate to the "Closed Captions" tab. Click on the "Apply Closed Captions" button to process Closed Captions.
Alternatively, you can upload a SRT file to an existing video or audio file on the platform.
To do so:
- Open the Info Preview page for a Video/Audio file and click the CC upload icon, as shown below:
- Click 'Select File' button and select the relevant SRT file from your desktop.
- When the selected file has finished uploading, click Save to confirm.
- The uploaded closed captions are now available in the Captions tab for review and any manual edits that may need to be made.
Apply Closed Captions during Bulk Upload
1. Go to Bulk Uploads Page.
2. Select "Apply Closed Captions". Closed Captions will only be applied for audio and video assets, so don't worry if your upload also includes Images or Documents, they won't be affected.
Or, you can also select "Apply Closed Captions" to selected audio and video assets from the bulk upload list.
3. Click Save Selected & Continue. Closed Captions processing will commence in the background and will appear in the info preview screen once available.
Apply Closed Captions during Single Upload
1. Add Resource (audio or video file)
2. Select Apply Closed Captions (this will only appear if a resource was an audio or video file).
3. Click Save. Closed Captions processing will commence in the background and will appear in the info preview screen once available.
View and Edit Closed Captions
1. View you Closed Captions in the "Closed Captions" tab of the Info Preview screen.
2. With the right permission, you will be able to see the "Edit" button to edit the Closed Captions. This is as simple as clicking on the text and making edits.
3. Click on "Save" when your edits are finished.
Search within Closed Captions
1. On the Info Preview screen, navigate to the "Closed Captions" tab.
2. Enter the search term within the search box to search within Closed Captions.
3. Search results will display the Closed Captions segment where the search term appears.
Download the Closed Captions SRT File
1. Click on the Download SRT button to download Closed Captions in the SRT format.
SRT files can be viewed and edited in any text editor.
Note: SRT is the most widely used format to distribute Captions because most media players and video recording software are compatible with SRT Captions.
Share or embed videos with Closed Captions
1. Select "More" from the action button panel at the bottom of the Info Preview screen.
2. Select "Share/Embed Resource".
3. Select Link Type = "Streaming" to share the Video assets with the Closed Captions option.
Make Closed Captions visible or invisible within a video file
Recipients will be able to turn the Closed Captions on and off by selecting the "CC" option from the media player (bottom right on image below).
Filter audio and videos with Closed Caption generated content within IntelligenceBank
Users can now find audio or video files with Closed Captions by using Resource Filters.
1. Activate your resource filters from the search bar
2. In the Closed Captions section (see dropdown), select "Yes" to filter files with Closed Captions.
If you would like only audio and video assets to be displayed in your filter results then select "Audio" and. "Video" from the File Formats.

What is the difference between transcription and closed captions?
Transcription refers to the process by which audio is converted into written text. Closed Captions divide that transcript text into time-coded chunks, known as “caption frames”. -

Are my audio and video files now WCAG2 1.2.2 compliant?
Please read the latest instructions on WCAG2 1.2.2 website.
IntelligenceBank Closed captions will transcribe audio files into text. However, to ensure WCAG2 1.2.2 compliance you will need to check that Closed Captions on each of your files include any descriptive sound effects (e.g. music playing, birds singing). Just add these descriptions to your Closed Captions following these guidelines.

Which file formats are supported for the Closed Captions?
All the formats supported for audio and video preview will be supported for the Closed Captions. Refer to this page for the complete list.

How long does it take for Closed Captions to complete on a file?
Closed Captions processing time depends on the size and duration of your audio/video file. For a 30-second video, it can take 5-10 minutes to process. Typically we ask people to expect between up to 10-20 minutes and you will be notified by email once Closed Captions have been applied.

Which languages are supported for the Closed Captions?
When you apply "Closed Captions", the system will automatically detect the dominant language spoken in the video/audio and generate Closed Captions for that language. IntelligenceBank supports Closed Captions for 40 languages.
Note: This feature doesn't do the translation into different languages. It identifies the dominant language spoken in the video/audio to provide closed captions in that language.
